This will not define my worth, but it will be part of what defines me as a person in the many years to come. Forlorn I undoubtedly was, helpless to seek a solution to my misery. It doesn't take a lot of effort to figure out that the world we live in is a lot more fucked up than we think it is. Mumbai's been bombed. The climate change deal might be stalled. We have got a national emergency in our bloody backyard. Cholera is fast becoming AIDS number one rival in Zimbabwe. And the flipping financial crisis doesn't look like its gonna be resolved anytime soon. Well...and we are all sitting here. :D

Anyway, recently some dude in the Ministry of Education (obviously he himself lacks education) was pondering on reverting the teaching of Mathematics and Science to be done in BM. Which I think is a fantastic idea, by the way. Because it will preserve our national culture and our national pride ( whatevers left of it anyways after that disastrous caper at the Asean Football Championship) and because it will undoubtedly benefit those whom cannot cope with English. I think its a brilliant idea because its all part of the plan, we want to lose out to countries like Singapore and Vietnam just so that we can keep our country as beautifully preserved as our Muzium Negara. Then again, it's a fantastic decision, its like the sort of decision you would make if you have lost trust in Western society, considering the farce of the financial crisis they are in right now. Har. Har. Har. Well, I am not sure what you have for brains, but I am jolly sure you left some of it in your mother's womb. :D

Speaking of decision, I must say that Decision Mathematics is the most brilliant subject in the world. :D Indeed it is, and I expect to fail the module. :O Yes, FAIL!

Or maybe I will pass.

On the other hand, we have a wrestling show going on in town. Old people only though. Still its worth watching. There's chair throwing, vote buying and mud slinging. Forget TNA, we got UMNO. (: Lovely to know that this is the leading political party in our country.

You may have been wondering what has been happening in my life in recent times. (:

I am sorry to disappoint because I am still alive and well (FAIRLY well). Yeah. Or maybe you weren't wondering at all. Hmmm...yeah.

In the month of October...

I went for the Cambridge interviews.

Fluffed it...I think. I am sure! Well, surprisingly the interview did not cover economic issues but too a more mathematical perspective. Indeed. I ain't going to Cambridge after all. :P

I got rejected by UCL.

Unexplained occurrence. I am not sure why, it's just the case and I gotta deal with it, I guess. I suppose I am not good enough for them. Pfft. Yeah. It just says my application is unsuccessful. Creatively put so as not to hurt my feelings I suppose. Unsuccessful being the euphemism for REJECTED. lolz.

I am at odds about my US applications.

Now that I got 640 for Math. Still got an essay to finish for Columbia.

AS is fast approaching.

Yeah. Self-explanatory.

And...*insert drumroll*...I am a new, new person.

Said before. But events during the month have forced me to reconsider my life. xD So...yeah.

Which is what I am about to do. I know, that among all my shortcomings and weaknesses, one of them lies bare for all the world to see, that is : I am fickle. Fickle in the sense that I can never decide what I ever want or differentiate between what I need and do not need.

Fickleness is not an addiction, its a malady that can be cured. My drug is you. And I finally realise after all these years, what I want. Because I am intoxicated by your presence, compelled by the similarities that exist between us and so very recklessly in love with you. What can I say?

Nothing much I guess. What can I do? I don't yet know.

But I am no longer fickle. Because now I have a reason to wait.

Apparently, the court could not find any evidence of wrongdoing. Well, then, that's the Malaysian judiciary for you. Brilliant. Well-founded upon the pillars of justice.

I am getting older, and the date when I shall leave to pursue my own life is beckoning. Approaching faster than ever. I can already see that pinprick light at the end of the tunnel. A long way to go, but its been a long way to where I am now.

These are the resolutions I made at the start of this year.

Train for swimming. (failed to achieve)
Do some community work. (achieved)
Get into LSE, UCL, Cambridge, Columbia or Chicago. (yet to know)
Go to SEA Forensics again. (failed to achieve)
Get an internship during the summer holidays. (failed to achieve)
Work hard for exams. (well...)
Improve football. (achieved)
Go for THIMUN. (failed to achieve)
Make a change. Be SOMEONE. (well...)

Yeah. The most important things to me...I did not achieve. Well. Yeah.

It is my fault.

I didn't go to MUN meetings the first two terms because I was at eYES.

Didn't get to go for Forensics because...well...my reputation precedes me. *apparently*

Didn't get an internship because I didn't try enough.

Didn't get into UCL.

So...it can be safely concluded. That I did not do a lot of things I set out to do this year.

New resolutions then. For next year. Soon.

For 45 years, we have shirked the ideals of our country’s constitution, let race divide us, let us be misled by status, led modernization trample on our traditions and hypocritically and inevitably all of us demanded a better government as if all the tribulations of the post independent years were to be heaped on to the failure of the government to do its part in the social contract. As we speak, we may hear rumours of political change, of a bureaucracy bed-ridden by the blight of corruption, all of which are trivial when compared to issues that face us today as citizens of this country and citizens of this world. We shield ourselves from in cocoons hoping to weather the “storm” of globalisation that we know will never blow over, we continue our materialistic pursuits in search of a better future that only exists immaterially, we forsake tradition to claim modernization as the tradition of our time, and sigh we shall, this paradox of paradoxes, for these are the real things we should be worrying about as citizens of this country. As it is, it is easier said than done, for we are all humans, compelled to conform and truckle to temptations.

But, I plead of you, to never place your faith in someone so readily, blinded to his faults and intoxicated by his oratory, you might be, and it is your penultimate decision that will eventually shape this country.

So, wake up citizens of Malaysia.

Have you ever said to yourself, I am rooting for this couple, I hope they stay together, and if they break up, I would be so disappointed. I felt that way about Michelle and Alfie...I rooted for them, for I have never seen such pure and blissful love in a long, long, long time. Indeed. It has come to my attention, that we have a contagion within our midst, ready at any minute to attack.

I have noticed that people, when put into positions of power tend to be rather (I do want to put this in a nice way but I can't) arrogant.

It is that time of the year when scholarships are being doled out like candycanes to children and I can't but help to notice some people seem to think that with their numerous accomplishments that they truly deserve them and a rejection would be a serious dent in their pride.

To be frank, I have nothing against the scholarship holders or the scholarship applicants for the matter. Some of my friends have gone on to apply for many scholarships after the SPM results started coming out, few of them have been rejected, and since then they have appealed to have their applications reconsidered. These people I have respect for.

Tell you what, I have no respect for whiners.

Whiners they are utterly, indescribably and unbearably disgusting to the core.

I HATE WHINERS.

And lately, I have observed this flaw among humans, especially those that are blindly dogmatic about certain issues. Some of them just cannot lose. To be rejected is to have lost. That is fine. There is no harm in feeling disappointment about not getting a scholarship. The best students may have gone through their entire lives without receiving scholarships.

But what pisses me off is when someone insists that he deserves the scholarship and then goes on to blow his bloody fucking own trumpet of all his fucking useless ill-gotten accomplishments in his high school life. You may say I am jealous - tell you what, I am not. That I am sure, I would fricassee my balls for your lunch and serve them on a silver platter to you if you could prove the claim.

Frankly, I personally do not care how great you were in high school...head prefect, vice president of some obscure society, actor in some sad shit school play(!), clearly you weren't good enough for the scholarship. I have never gotten any positions in my high school life, for one, I think you could put that down as much to bad luck as an impression of unreliability on the part of the teachers. I do know that if I were rejected for a scholarship( I applied for none by the way), I would have told myself that I was simply just not good enough.

That I would have done, instead of shooting down my government for not doing anything about affirmative action in my country. So I would suggest that you keep your words to yourself because I don't want to hear them, for better or for worse because they don't matter to me. If you think that you are so great, then maybe you can come talk to me, I shall put you back on track where you belong.

I hate it when people's egos get too big for them.

They seem to gravitate towards the impression that they are the best in the world in nearly everything. It becomes so typical for them to start labeling themselves as the hottest being on the planet or the smartest fucker around. It gets into my face you know, like bird crap on your car window blocking the view of the road. Well, thats normal human behavior, when one exists in a sea of mediocrity, that's the effect mediocrity has on you. It generates illusions that you are the best in the world.

This has been too much, it is overwhelming. And the reasons for continuing this chase have dried up a long time ago.

And yet, I continue the pursuit. Without a plan. Without a direction.

Dear readers,

"I want to die happily." That's what they all say, those few words serve as an allegory to all the living, yet many of us when quizzed of our own perceptions of such a happening are truly baffled. Death is inevitable, as Benjamin Franklin once said,"In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." All of us have thought of it before, yet we have never considered how we want to die and what we want to leave behind other than an epitaph inscripted in stone.

Do you know what an ideal death is?

Some will tell you they want to die as billionaires, with their fat asses plopped on assets across the world. Yet anyone can tell you that in our incessant search of material wealth, that money is not everything in life, and if you want to die happily, money cannot buy that happiness. True, if a beggar was granted with a fortune from a lottery ticket, you could imagine his reaction. Gone would be the feeling of insecurity of where his next meal would come from. Yet, if he died the next day, where would he be? Would he be any happier?

Money can buy happiness today, but maybe it cannot buy happiness tomorrow.

Some will tell you they want to die knowing they have fulfilled their jobs as responsible parents and leaving a happy family behind. It is noble to think that if you family was happy, you would be able to leave this world happily too. It does imply rationality of sense after all. Parents often want to leave this world knowing that they have tried their best in giving their child the best of lives. That their child will be okay. That to a parent with terminal illness is godsend. Imagine, your mother dying of cancer ( pray that is not the case), all she would want now is for you to give your very best shot in life, she wants you to have a solid education that can give her the assurance that you will be able to take care of yourself when Death comes knocking. Yet it is naive to be that selfless, but that is what makes parents so special, that their sacrifice should be appreciated even more. Yet this is not death as you imagine it to be, happy, surely this in not a happy death for you as the parent, surely your sole purpose in life is not just about raising children to be grown up and matured about everything, although this is typical in Asian societies.

Life is short.

Tell me, what would be your happy death?

Mine, I want to be remembered as a good friend, a good son, and a good brother. That is all, I want to know that when I die there will be people at my funeral, that even if a single person were to shed tears, I am happy to have played a part in that person's life.

On to less sombre issues. In General Paper last week, the holy GP teacher *ahem*, he knows how to use the internet so it wouldn't be wise to mention his name here(:P), told us to write an essay about music of a 100 words without using the letter 'e' (!). I was like grinning at his brilliance, what a novel way of torturing students. The letter 'e' is the king of all words, the queen is 'a' and writing an essay, even a 100 word long one is like trying to ride a bicycle with one leg. I learnt that day people have actually written entire books(!) without the letter 'e'. Go wikipedia lipogram if you don't want to take my word. If there is a measure of joblessness, writing lipograms must be "ULTIMATE JOBLESSNESS, SOMEONE STOP HIM BEFORE HE KILLS HIMSELF!" Anyway here is my very feeble attempt. I think it ain't bad for a beginner. :D

Some people don't believe in apologies. Apologies they abhor, apologies are like allergens to them, they distance themselves away as far as possible from them lest they get pangs of sentimentalism so uncharacteristic of them. Indeed. One need not say sorry, for all is forgiven in the end anyway, we will all end up under six feet of dirt in a dinghy box. Nicole.... *winks*

So, why apologize? Tell me, why apologize?

The skeptics think apologies are a form of self retribution, this indirectly implies that apologies are a selfish act intended to lift of the burden of guilt of one's shoulders. Do you think so? Certainly it makes sense. Certainly when I ask you why do we apologize to people you would answer something along the lines,"I feel guilty, I cannot let that act live under my conscience." The question is, is this act selfish? I would have to agree that this happens under certain conditions. Like deliberately pissing someone off and then apologizing so as to "minimize" some of the damage. Yes, to yourself! You can't say the apology was not sincere, it was, but it was intended to make you feel less guilty. And that is selfish, ain't it? Apologies are meant for the offended not the offender.

So do you know yet why we apologize?

I bet you never thought of this. Why apologize, apologies are meant to be accepted. To deny an apology would be like denying help from someone and then proceeding to bash that someone up for even suggesting that you needed help.

I apologize for all the things that I have ever done wrong in your eyes, my reader. I know I have offended loads of people with my lashing tongue. I am going to say sorry for not being there at times when you needed me the most. I beg your pardon for challenging your views of life and how its supposed to work. I sincerely apologize for messing in your business in times when they were none of mine. I also want to say sorry to my parents for anything I have done wrong, those things being to numerous to remember, although they have decreased in frequency in recent years. I would also like to apologize to all my friends for losing touch and hopefully someday we may meet again and I will bear in mind to forever cherish our friendship. And I beg your forgiveness for being such an abhorable retard these few years, for all the trouble I caused to Melody, Ying and Sue Ann last year. I am sorry for having deprived my classmates of a month of BM classes for having caused trouble with Mr Selvam. And sorry to you, Mr Selvam and all my teachers for being a pain in the ass.

So, people, the ultimate question, why do we apologize. Is it fun? I apologize because tomorrow I may never see you again. Because today may be my last day on this Earth and I wouldn't want to leave it knowing that friends, families and anyone in my life would suffer the pain of what I have left behind. Indeed. So I apologize for the sake of today, in case a tomorrow never comes. And that it was you should apologize for. Because you love your friends, families and whoever you feel you have wronged so much that you wouldn't want to leave them as an enemy. And YOU would not want to leave knowing that you could have done better, that is you could have been a better friend, a better bother or a mother or a sister or a father. So how was today? It was the first day of term, there were the normalities of this school carried out – the principals speech and the sixth form assembly.

And there was the announcement of who would form the body of our sixth form committee for the rest of our tenure as upper sixers here. I didn’t get a position and there was nothing to be sad about. Tomorrow I have got a society meeting and I am hardly expecting to get a position, and in the event of me getting a position there is the likeliness that it wouldn’t be a notable one. Indeed. Inevitably so, I have never held a position in my life before - not in any club or society, not in any student body. I was never a prefect nor a class monitor. It was, I believe, not because I was not good enough but rather a combination of hard luck and of course, the tendency of my presence going unnoticed. A position in school regardless of whatever position it is, is the embodiment of responsibility manifested in the holder of the position. The holder should be thoroughly responsible and dedicate himself to fulfilling those very responsibilities. Yet it is also understandable that some people were never meant to be leaders, despite how much they want to be one, and I am one of them.

Zimbabwe is a poor country, today rather than in the earlier years when agricultural exports had buoyed the economy to such great heights that it was once regarded as a gem in African civilisation. Today its inflation rate stands at in excess of 100000% and its economy to Western eyes is beyond repair, similar to those dead fish in the supermarket that can never be resuscitated even if you had God’s breath. In a position of great power, the liberator of Zimbabwe from the oppressive white regime of Ian Smith, the young Robert Mugabe was believed to be able to bring Zimbabwe into an era of glory that was unparalleled in Zimbabwean history. Today, the government is bellicose and its power waning, it support base wavering as news of an imminent loss of the Zimbabwe Parliament to the opposition MDC. Robert Mugabe is a broken man, a man who had so much power to himself that he was possessed by it, he had forgotten his promises of restoring glory and he had forsaken his responsibilities to his people. And that is power that has gone sour, fresh responsibilities bestowed on a leader whom let those responsibilities go stale with his souring promises. Today, he is a broken man seeking a recount of votes in the recent elections. And today, we might never know whether Zimbabwe will ever be a sustainable state again. I certainly hope that with the confidence vested in the MDC, I hope they do a much better job in maintaining the welfare of the forgotten people of the country.

I hope this term will be better and I certainly hope this term I will find something to write in my UCAS personal statement. For now, adios.

I am sorry to announce that I have only three more days.
In approximately 72 hours I would be back within the gates of a education facility on the outskirts of the City.
To be frank, it has been a good term.
Don't get me wrong, I am fine with the idea of going back to this education facility. Next term gonna be a test though. Not sure whether I will be ready.

I am in high spirits today.
Any Manchester United fan would say the same thing.
It really looks like they are going to life the European Cup this year.
But that dream could lay shattered come next week when Roma travel to Old Trafford for the second leg.

We shall see.

This season has been about Manchester United really.

Its too overhyped, then again what can you say.

United have the 3R's(Ronaldo, Rooney, Ryan), great midfileders( Carrick, Hargreaves, Nani, Anderson, Scholes, Fletcher) and solid defenders( Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, O Shea).
